Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted again to the Administrative Court's decision on judges' salaries.
In a post on 'X', Rama stated that the decision to secure the lawsuit not only provides for an immediate increase in salaries by 51%, but also the payment of arrears from April 2023. According to the calculations published by him, the obligations for 40 months would amount to around 130.5 million euros.
Rama had criticized the Administrative Court a day earlier, after it ordered the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury Branch in Tirana to unblock the salaries of judges and administration of the Special Court of First Instance, as well as the Court of Durrës. The debate is related to the request for the review of judges' salaries and the financial effects that such a decision could bring to the state budget.
"I feel for the partial information on yesterday's indiscretion of the Administrative Court, which, through the first lawsuit in world history not to stop an act but to carry out an act, is not only demanding an immediate 51% increase in salaries for judges, but also "arrears" from April 2023, because according to them, their salaries should have been increased by then as much as they want to increase them now."
"Find in the attached table how much each judge would personally receive tomorrow as back pay, if the finance minister were to break the law and go after the berihaji of this extra-parliamentary decision-making," Rama writes.
