
A 44-year-old man has been arrested by police after, while driving an ambulance under the influence of alcohol, he hit an elderly man on Friday evening, near the city library.
The elderly man was crossing the road on his bicycle when he was hit by the ambulance. As a result, he was injured and was immediately transported to the hospital, where he received medical attention. According to initial information, the elderly man is out of danger.
After the accident, the ambulance driver himself transported the injured person to the hospital.
Police conducted an alcohol test on the ambulance driver, identified by the initials EQ, about 44 years old, and the result confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
At the conclusion of the initial investigative actions, EQ was arrested and charged with drunk driving and causing the accident.
