Goalkeeper kicked him in the chest, Jesus de Miguel suffered a heart attack: he

In the 99th minute of extra time, the Tenerife-Andorra match, valid for the Spanish Second League (La Liga 2), was interrupted to provide the necessary assistance on the field to Jesus de Miguel, the footballer of the local team, who suffered a very strong blow to the chest during a collision with the opposing goalkeeper, Owono. What initially seemed like a tough duel, but common in football, turned into moments of great anxiety. The players immediately requested the intervention of the medical staff of both teams, to come to the aid of the 30-year-old striker, who lost consciousness and suffered a cardiac arrest. After about 10 minutes of assistance, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he was transported on a stretcher in an ambulance equipped with medical personnel to the nearest hospital, in Santa Cruz.

It all happened in an instant, seconds before the end of a very long extra time match, in which Andorra had just moments earlier managed to unexpectedly equalize the score at 2-2. After a counterattack, De Miguel found himself alone near the halfway line, ready to launch a quick action, when he was confronted by the opposing goalkeeper, Jesús Owono, who stopped him in the worst possible way: with a knee at chest height, forcing him to the ground. The Andorran goalkeeper was immediately punished with a straight red card, but attention was focused a second later on the condition of the Tenerife footballer, who first rolled on the ground in pain and then remained motionless.

The reconstruction of the event through the testimonies of teammates and opponents confirmed that De Miguel had lost consciousness as a result of the impact. For this reason, first aid did not move him from the place where the collision had occurred. For about ten minutes, while the referee communicated to the two captains the decision to definitively interrupt the match, the footballer remained on the field, surrounded by medical staff, who performed cardiac massage after the sudden cardiac arrest. Then the stretcher arrived, where he was placed to be transported to the hospital and undergo further examinations. At this moment, his condition does not seem worrying and he is out of danger to his life, but the cardiac arrest and loss of consciousness have nevertheless required maximum care. The prognosis for the moment remains reserved.

The concern for the condition of De Miguel, who transferred to Tenerife in June 2025, was evident both inside and outside the “Heliodoro Rodríguez López” stadium, the home team’s stadium. Most fans watched the event from the stands, in silence and anxiety, while many others, who had earlier abandoned the stadium steps, gathered in large groups outside the stadium, near the exits reserved for authorized vehicles. They watched the ambulance leave with sirens blaring towards the hospital, accompanied by a long and loud applause in support.
