Everton are facing a major disciplinary problem with Jack Grealish. His exclusion from the squad last week, at a time when he seemed set to return to the pitch, had raised questions. The English club released a statement specifying that the footballer had been left out of the match for having “broke the club’s disciplinary code”. It was later revealed that Grealish had not attended a training session without informing anyone and, moreover, during these hours new details from his personal life have come to light, which have angered the club’s management. According to what the newspaper “The Sun” writes, Grealish spent two consecutive evenings drinking and partying, just a few days before he was expelled from Everton for disciplinary reasons.
The 30-year-old English footballer, who earns £300,000 a week, enjoyed two nights out on the 19th and 20th of October. On Monday night, Grealish is said to have attended the Pride of Britain Awards in London before heading to a karaoke bar where he stayed until the early hours of the morning. He then returned to the northwest of England to train with Everton, before going out again that evening and drinking at the Mucky Pup pub in Wilmslow, alongside Everton teammates Jordan Pickford and Tyler Dibling, as well as his former Manchester City team-mate Kyle Walker.
A situation that certainly cannot please Everton, who had invested heavily in the return to the best form of the footballer, whom only a few years ago Manchester City had bought for a considerable amount of money. The player, who is still owned by the Citizens, seems to have broken off relations with the club. During the second evening, Grealish is said to have watched the match between PSG and Barcelona in a private setting, while witnesses have described a considerable consumption of alcoholic beverages. Just a few days later, Grealish was left out of the Everton squad for the confrontation with Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, which the team won. Manager David Moyes confirmed: “The club made the decision and I support it”.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Grealish, who last played for Everton against Chelsea on October 17. Initially, the player was officially reported as injured for the subsequent matches, but was later left out of the squad precisely because of some disciplinary issues, which the club did not specify. His contract with Manchester City ends on June 30, 2027 and his future is indeed in question, between developments related to the Citizens themselves and the possibility that Everton decide to no longer rely on him.
