Most of us don't come back from a night out at the pub looking the same as when we left the house. The same can be said for a few glasses of wine, so this photographer decided to get out his camera to document the change.
Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti photographed some of his friends when they were sober, before photographing them again when they had had one, two, and then three glasses of wine.
Explaining what inspired the project, he said: “There’s a saying about wine that I really like and it goes something like this: ‘The first glass of wine is all about food, the second glass is all about love, and the third glass is all about chaos.’ I really wanted to see for myself if that statement was really true.”

According to Albert's website, the series initially "started as a joke" but ended up becoming a huge success. He began by taking a picture of his friends when they arrived at his studio "to capture the stress and fatigue" on their faces.

The photographer explained that his friends had endured "a full day at work" and had to wade through "rush hour traffic" to get there, so some of them weren't exactly in a good mood when they arrived.
But after the first glass of wine, they seemed much happier.

After each drink, Albert took pictures of his friends to capture how their facial expressions continued to change as they consumed more alcohol.
"At the end of each glass of wine a glimpse, nothing special, a face and a wall, three times," Alberti said. "By the end of the third glass, there were a few smiles and a lot of stories told."

Alberti's muses seemed much more relaxed after drinking. Although most of the subjects look quite serious and calm in the first image, they loosen up a little more with each glass of wine. In the final images, each of them smiles widely and seems to be having fun in front of the camera. ©LAPSI.al
