Milan prosecutor Elio Ramondini asked the court to confirm the arrest on charges of attempted murder, noting that there is a risk of escape and repetition of a similar act.
According to the prosecutor's investigation, Saidili, who was born in the province of Treviso, attacked without saying a word, approached the victim from behind, inflicting about 20 blows to the head, neck, chest and abdomen.
The 22-year-old is being held in the San Vittore prison and is expected to appear before investigator Luigi Iannelli. Regarding motives, prosecutors are citing the statement he allegedly made after his arrest: "I enjoyed it. As soon as I get out, I'll do it again."
The case prompted the intervention of the number 2 of the Italian government and the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini.
"Shocking words. Did he like it and would he do it again? Then he should never get out of prison," he wrote in a post on social media. ©LAPSI.al
