Rama Veliaj's fight ends in court

Erion Veliaj has addressed a letter to the Criminal Court of Kosovo, claiming that it will be read at today's session, which he will be absent from. Its content generally includes the positions he has held publicly over the last 24 hours, regarding the threatening messages he claimed were sent to him by Edi Rama through the Minister of Justice.

Veliaj asked the trial panel to publicly record the verdict for the purpose of transparency and legal assessment.

In a statement published a day ago, Veliaj claimed that Justice Minister Toni Gogu had conveyed a threat from Edi Rama regarding his transfer and prison conditions, asking him, according to him, to admit involvement in organizing or financing student protests, to resign from the Municipality of Tirana and to cease communication with Plarent Ndreca.

Veliaj has described this as political pressure and has challenged Prime Minister Rama to present evidence for the claims that he organized or financed the protests. In his reaction, Veliaj stated that he will not accept violating his dignity, despite the restrictions on freedom that he claims to be experiencing in prison. He called on Rama to leave

Veliaj's reaction

I want to assure socialists that I do not throw stones at my socialist house, but I also do not allow anyone to throw stones at my dignity.

I really have less freedom than the Prime Minister, but I have many times more dignity than he does.

I reject the Bolshevik hallucinations that I organized or financed the protests and the whole truth of the meeting with the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, is this letter written by my hand.

I challenge the country's Prime Minister to produce a single piece of evidence for the allegations of protests.

Otherwise, run away!
