Turkish activist Julide Yazici extradited after protesting against Erdogan

The Tirana Court has decided to extradite 32-year-old Julide Yazici, arrested in Albania, to Turkey.

Two months ago, the Court of Appeal upheld the "prison arrest" measure for Turkish citizen Julide Yazici, 32, who was arrested in Albania after being declared wanted by Turkish authorities.

Yazici, who according to public data has been granted political asylum in France, is accused by Turkish justice of providing logistical support to a terrorist organization and participating in a terrorist organization.

She was wanted for her alleged involvement in protests in support of Kurdish rights that took place in Turkey several years ago. According to the Turkish authorities' file, evidence related to the investigation was found during searches of an apartment in Istanbul. For this case, Yazici was sentenced in absentia to 4 years in prison.

In court hearings in Albania, Yazici has stated that she is being politically persecuted because of her stance against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. She has claimed that if she is extradited to Turkey, her life would be in danger. Her lawyers have also maintained the same position.

The young woman, a teacher by profession, is suspected of providing logistical support to a terrorist organization and participating in a terrorist organization and has been arrested on behalf of the Turkish state as a wanted person.

Yazici was sentenced to four years in prison for these crimes, with three years, 5 months and 22 days remaining.

Six decisions signed by the AMA on October 30, for alleged violations of ethical standards and broadcasting statements that, according to the authority, incite hatred or justify violence. The fines have opened a debate on the limits of freedom of expression and the responsibility of television stations, while journalists see them as a form of pressure that risks encouraging self-censorship in studios and editorial offices.
