A Powerball ticket sold at a gas station in western Illinois was the sole winner of the $1 billion grand prize, ending a three-month streak without a winner.
The winning ticket for Wednesday's drawing was sold at a gas station in Quincy. The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69, with the Powerball number being 9.
The prize is paid either in full in annual installments over 29 years or as a lump sum payment of $450.5 million. Winners almost always choose the full amount, the Associated Press notes.
The $1.04 billion jackpot was the eighth largest in Powerball history, according to game organizers. Another lottery, Mega Millions, also had a $1 billion jackpot winner.
The record lottery prize remains just over $2 billion, which was won with a Powerball ticket purchased in California in 2022. ©LAPSI.al
