Another American citizen has been arrested by Tirana police following the October 31 protest, on suspicion of involvement in acts of violence. Kevin Radosevich, from California, was allegedly photographed throwing Molotov cocktails among protesters. However, police have not officially confirmed this specific action.
His arrest is the second case of an American citizen detained during the recent protests against Edi Rama's government. On October 17, police arrested American Julien Williams and Italian Marco Benvenuto, both suspected of involvement in clashes with police. They have reportedly denied the charges.
The involvement of foreign nationals in the Tirana protests is already a documented fact, but contrary to what Prime Minister Rama alludes to, the foreigners arrested so far are neither Russians nor Iranians. They are citizens who come from Western countries, but for whom there is no public evidence to show that they acted in a coordinated manner or on behalf of foreign organizations or agencies.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Tirana has reacted several times, calling for the avoidance of violence and respect for the right to peaceful protest.
