Rama sets the "dialogue table" again, students refuse and continue

Prime Minister Edi Rama has today reiterated his call for dialogue with students, who have been protesting for weeks and demanding his resignation. Rama has again published an image of the stone table in front of the Prime Minister's Office, on which sheets of paper with the inscription "Dialogue" have been placed, repeating the message for talks.

The students, however, have not changed their stance. They have so far rejected the prime minister's invitations and insist that their main demand remains his removal from office. Protests continue in Tirana, with marches on the streets of the capital and stops near faculties, where calls are made for more students to join the movement. Lecturers have also joined in their support, while in some faculties the teaching process has been boycotted. Students and lecturers have declared that the protests and boycott will continue.

Albania, a negative note in Brussels for Balluk's defense in Parliament

The European Commission's progress report generally assesses Albania's progress towards integration, but reserves criticism for the role of the legislature in weak oversight of the government, the lack of dialogue and the dominance of the executive in the legislative process. The refusal to lift Balluk's immunity raises concerns about the violation of equality before the law.
