Independent MP and former Socialist Party MP, Marjana Koçeku, commented on the "Prime News24" show on the clash between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
Koçek described the situation as a war between two figures of the same political force, stating that there should be no intervention to save either side.
"The situation is clear, both speak from prison, but one is inside and the other is outside prison. There is a war between them and I think we should let them kill each other. We don't have to save either side, but let them continue on this journey that they have started and that shows no signs of turning back," she said.
According to Koçek, clashes and divisions within the Socialist Party were expected and recent developments could cause a chain effect, bringing about further schisms within the ranks of this political force.
"It was inevitable that there would be such political schisms. There was one in the SP even when I left and it is expected that there will be a 'butterfly effect' in the future. What happened was expected and I believe it will last over time. The effects of what is happening will also influence the creation of other schisms in the SP", declared Koçeku.
She predicted that developments could lead to the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, linking this outcome to the protesters' demand.
"I believe the final outcome is what the protesters are also demanding, the resignation of Prime Minister Rama. I don't think it's a matter of desire, but it's clear. Rama is not the kind of politician who accepts resignation and wouldn't want to leave office, but the situation will come to such a point that there will be no other solution," she said.
During the interview, Koçeku also spoke about her decision to leave the SP parliamentary group and continue as an independent MP, explaining that breaking away from the group's members was a personal choice.
"Since I decided to leave the SP group and become an independent MP, it has been my personal decision to sever relations with members of the SP group. I have not been a big fan of friendship in politics, because I do not strongly believe in it, but there was also a short time when I was part of creating something", said Koçek. / BW
