Greek media have published footage of the actions of members of a criminal organization accused of extortion, threats and explosions. “ Protothema ” writes that the leader of the group appears to be an Albanian prisoner from Trikala prison and his close associates are a Roma prisoner from Malandrino prison, two Egyptian prisoners from Avlona and Malandrino prisons, as well as 5 other people who were arrested.
The images show grenade attacks carried out by the defendants on two shops in central Athens in early September. The perpetrators exit the shop, throw a grenade into the area where there are customers inside, and leave. Fortunately, the grenade did not explode.
As the investigation revealed, the defendants had joined a criminal organization with continuous action, a stable internal structure and hierarchical structure, as well as a distinct distribution of roles, where a 49-year-old convicted of serious crimes had a leading role.
The 49-year-old, despite his imprisonment, maintained operational control of the organization, determining the targets of the attacks, evaluating the information gathered during the preparatory phase, giving instructions to other members and overseeing the implementation of criminal actions.
Members undertook, as appropriate, the collection of information on selected targets, surveillance of residences and places of interest, identification of persons and vehicles, as well as photographing and mapping areas, finding the necessary tools, executing attacks, and escaping from the places where the criminal acts were committed.
In this way, the organization ensured the continuous functioning and coordination of its criminal activity, even when its main members were in prison. As for its associates, also imprisoned in prisons, they functioned as intermediate communication links between the leadership and members outside prison, undertaking the transmission of orders, coordinating individual actions and maintaining the operational cohesion of the organization. ©LAPSI.al
