The UFC match in Belgrade on Saturday night was accompanied by an incident that has caused numerous reactions, as part of the audience in the arena issued anti-Albanian chants when the American fighter of Albanian origin, Dennis Buzukja, entered the octagon with the Albanian flag.
The atmosphere was tense even before the start of the match, as Buzukja proudly appeared with the red and black flag in his hands. His action was met with harsh reactions from some of the local fans, who, according to reports, began chanting insulting and hateful slogans against Albanians.
According to media outlets that followed the event, loud cries such as "Kill, kill the Albanians" were heard from the stands, turning a sporting evening into a scandalous scene that has sparked debate on social media.
Despite the hostile atmosphere, Buzukja held his featherweight duel against Slovenian Bogdan Grad. After a tough fight, the judges awarded the victory to Grad.
However, the events outside the cage received just as much attention as the fight, with Buzukja's entrance and the reaction of the Serbian fans becoming one of the most talked-about moments of the evening at UFC Belgrade.
