Tabaku publishes video of protesters' release: This government's time

Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has shared a video of the release of students and minors arrested during the student protest, describing them as the heroes of Albania's majority that demands change.

Tabaku has been present at the Security Block throughout these days, where she has met with the detained youth and their families. Today, she was also there when some of the youth were released, while others are being released following court decisions.

In her message, the MP describes the protest as the most extraordinary she has seen, while denouncing the detention and holding in cells of minors, including 14-15-year-olds. According to her, these young people were arrested only because they dared to protest, without committing any other action other than their presence.

"This is the most extraordinary protest I have ever seen. A protest of heroes, who are often very young, 14-15 years old, escorted, arrested here, who have spent nights in cells just because they dared to protest," says Tabaku.

The MP emphasizes that the demands of young people are related to the needs of the entire society: better education and healthcare, an economy that supports families, and higher pensions for grandparents.

According to her, the courage of young people and their presence on the streets of Tirana are reasons to believe in a better Albania. Tabaku describes them as the conscience of a society that, according to her, has been suppressed and suffered for 14 years, and today is expressing itself through their voices.

"Today, they are the conscience of a society that has been suppressed for 14 years, has suffered for 14 years, while today they speak with their voice, with the voice of young people who have been unjustly arrested," concludes Tabaku.

Six decisions signed by the AMA on October 30, for alleged violations of ethical standards and broadcasting statements that, according to the authority, incite hatred or justify violence. The fines have opened a debate on the limits of freedom of expression and the responsibility of television stations, while journalists see them as a form of pressure that risks encouraging self-censorship in studios and editorial offices.
