Protests in Tirana, Bulgarian MEP: Young people want an end to corruption

The European People's Party (EPP) rapporteur for Albania, Andrey Kovatchev, has reacted to the student protests in Tirana, demanding that the voices of young people be heard and their concerns be taken seriously.

Kovatchev emphasizes that young Albanians are seeking more than promises, placing accountability, an end to corruption, and a European future at the center of their demands.

"The youth of Albania are looking for more than promises: they want accountability, an end to corruption, and a European future built on democracy and the rule of law," he says.

The EPP rapporteur also calls for the protection of the right of young people to peacefully oppose the government.

"Their voices must be heard, their concerns taken seriously, and their right to peacefully oppose those in power must be protected," Kovatchev emphasizes.
