Magistrates' salaries, Bardhi: Rama must be held accountable for the

The chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has asked Prime Minister Edi Rama to account for what he described as the non-implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision on magistrates' salaries.

Through a post on social networks, Bardhi writes that the justice system has been left in financial collapse and magistrates have been left without salaries, while according to him, Prime Minister Rama is trying to manipulate public opinion. The head of the DP group stated that Rama increased his own salary by 100%, while he is lying when he tries to bill the obligation for the arrears of salaries since April 2023 of the Administrative Court magistrates.

Bardhi's reaction:

Edi Rama must be held accountable for not implementing the Constitutional Court's decision!

Edi Rama has been trying for days to manipulate public opinion about the salaries of magistrates, to hide his responsibility for an unprecedented situation: the justice system has been left in financial collapse, while magistrates and the administration of courts and prosecutors have been left without salaries. But propaganda cannot replace responsibility.

Edi Rama must answer to the Albanians:

Why did you not implement the Constitutional Court's decision for five months?

Why did his government take no action to implement a binding decision of the Constitutional Court, even though it was clear that the Assembly's failure to act by July 31, 2026, would bring about the consequences foreseen by the Court itself?

Why, to date, has the Council of Ministers not presented any draft law that reflects the Constitutional Court's decision on magistrates' salaries, but has hidden behind two of its deputies who don't even know what they signed?

These are the questions that Edi Rama must answer. Not to attack the justice system. Not to build an alibi. Not to produce propaganda.

Edi Rama increased his own salary by 100%, while telling magistrates: “I can’t increase yours by 51%”! In the period 2022–2023, in the name of increasing the cost of living and prices, the salaries of public sector officials and employees increased significantly, in some cases up to 100% of their value. The President, the Prime Minister, ministers, MPs, leaders and part of the public administration benefited. But judges and prosecutors were left out of this increase. They did not benefit from any salary increase during that period.

What is more serious is that this decision-making of the Assembly has been assessed as unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court, through two decisions. Despite this, Edi Rama and his majority in the Assembly violated the first decision of the Constitutional Court and, for five months, have refused to implement the second decision. This is the sole cause of the unprecedented crisis created in the justice system.

Edi Rama is also lying when he tries to bill the Administrative Court for the obligation for arrears since April 2023. This obligation was determined by the Constitutional Court in its decision of February 2026, even determining the formula on the basis of which the arrears are calculated.

The attempt to distort the facts and transfer responsibility to other institutions is simply another attempt to avoid accountability. In a normal state, the decisions of the Constitutional Court are not negotiated, not interpreted according to political interest, and not dragged out for five months. They are implemented.

In a state of law, the government cannot choose which decisions it respects and which it does not.

Therefore, Edi Rama must be accountable to the Albanians.

Why didn't you implement the Constitutional Court's decision?

Why did you allow the justice system to reach this point?

And why, instead of solving the crisis, is it trying to cover it up with propaganda?

Just as Edi Rama ordered the Minister of Finance to freeze the salary accounts of magistrates, he also ordered the Parliament not to implement the decisions of the Constitutional Court. Therefore, Albanians deserve answers, not excuses.

The Constitution is not a political choice. The decisions of the Constitutional Court are binding. And no one, including Edi Rama, is above the Constitution.
