The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has commented on the possibility of creating a new leadership in the DP.
Invited to a television interview, Berisha stated that his departure from the leadership of the DP will only happen if he feels that he no longer has the physical or mental ability to fulfill his duties.
"The moment I feel the slightest physical impossibility in my physical or mental obligations, absolutely, easily and without difficulty I will say 'Goodbye'. I have connected this, but at the time when I feel the same performance and with a very valuable experience, I from the battle...", said Berisha.
Asked if Belind Këlliçi could be a new leader of the Democratic Party, Berisha said that the race for the party leadership remains open, but did not give a concrete deadline for his departure.
During the interview, he also touched on the previous clash with Lulzim Basha, claiming that the decision to return to the leadership of the DP came after he realized that control of the party was being sought and that Basha had acted against him.
"I returned for my dignity, for the dignity of the Democratic Party," Berisha declared.
He also spoke about his motivation to continue the political battle, describing the confrontation with Edi Rama as one of the most interesting periods of his political life.
"I am not a demon of power. I have had all the powers. But now I fight with dedication. These years have been the most interesting years of my life, because the fight against a second dictatorship is extremely motivating," said the leader of the Democratic Party.
Berisha also accused Prime Minister Rama of choosing to stay in power at all costs and compared the current political situation to the end of the communist regime in Albania and developments in Romania. /EuronewsAlbania
