Democrats in the US are on track for their largest majority in the House of Representatives since 2008, according to CNN's latest projection for the midterm elections.
According to the forecast, Democrats are expected to secure at least 250 of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, passing the threshold of 218 seats needed for an absolute majority by 32 seats.
However, the race in some electoral districts has not yet ended, so the number of Democratic mandates could increase further.
The result reflects the extent of the Republicans' electoral loss and is expected to bring new developments for President Donald Trump's administration.
Control of the House of Representatives and the Senate will give Democrats the opportunity to advance their legislative agenda, as well as intensify parliamentary oversight of the White House.
Meanwhile, two races still remain open in the Senate, in Mississippi and Alaska.
