A 52-year-old man has been arrested in Himara, after being caught red-handed near the fires that he is suspected of starting. The fire burned areas of forests and pastures and endangered a home. “The services of the Himara Police Commissariat, after being notified that a fire had broken out in Borsh and areas of forests and pastures were burning, immediately went to the scene, in support of the firefighting forces, as well as to carry out investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the case. Near the fires, the Police services found the citizen, 52 years old, resident of Borsh, who is suspected of having started several fires in the area.
As a result of the spread of the flames, areas of forest and pastures have been burned, while a house located near the fire has also been endangered. Following the procedural actions, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Himara Police Commissariat arrested the 52-year-old citizen in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Destruction of forests and forest environment by fire", the police statement states. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora, for further actions. The Vlora Local Police Directorate appeals to all citizens not to light fires for burning waste or for other purposes, as the spread of the flames can bring serious consequences to life, property and the environment.
