Rama reacts at midnight: Protesters are using violence

Prime Minister Edi Rama has been involved in a retort with the "European Democrats" party that supported the protests held in Tirana. Rama has reacted several times by accusing the protesters of using violence against citizens and SP MPs.

“My wonderful grandmother taught me the old Latin wisdom: errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum. To err is human, but to persist in the same error is diabolical.

Your response, @democrats_eu, makes me wonder if politicians like you inspired the second part of this expression.

You condemned the violence against elected representatives only after I showed you the images. And then, immediately, you minimized it by calling it “isolated acts.”

For 101 days, the protest has been taking place on the boulevard without any problems regarding the right to assemble, to speak, and to criticize.

But physically preventing elected members of parliament from entering Parliament and abusing a respected member of parliament who is simply trying to get to her workplace is not opposition. It is violence.

And you know what? Here comes another fresh example of your “isolated acts.” Protesters block a city intersection, surround the car of an ordinary citizen who is simply trying to cross, and start hitting him. What is he guilty of, exactly? For trying to continue on his way?

Would you be kind enough to clearly condemn this as well, without any justification?

I am not using the violence of some to discredit every protester. It is you who are using the peaceful behavior of many to minimize the violence of others.

"Come on, be brave and say: This is not opposition. This is violence," Rama wrote, who also published a video. ©LAPSI.al
