Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken again about the salaries of the judiciary. In a video from the car on the way to Berat, Rama did not spare himself accusations and jabs at the judges. He says that the atmosphere created is very worrying and that the independence of the judiciary has slipped into irresponsibility.
"The two images of the dark side of the justice reform medal, two bodies overloaded with people, salaries, expenses, but with a productivity that leaves much to be desired in terms of the mission they have as governing bodies of the justice system that is independent, no longer on paper, but in the factual reality of Albania where independence has brought as much good as it has brought the great challenge of slipping into irresponsibility, but I do not want to go into this topic.
It is a complex topic, it is necessary, the time available to radically transform and establish a justice system has been short because these are epochal changes and this epochal change has begun.
I just want to say how disturbing, how ugly, how vulgar is the atmosphere created by a conflict of powers and by a barricade of that independent, constitutional power that should guarantee equality before the law for everyone and above all for itself, and above all beyond the letter of the law, guarantee an example.
When it comes to the issue that comes out of the courtroom and is organized into associations to voice the concerns of the group in public. Here we are talking about another dimension and it is important for the example that is given. There are a party that has this interest.
I want to start where I started, with these two councils, two peaks, one peak with two bodies of the judicial pyramid. These men and women who are paid a lot and who are there to administer the affairs of the judiciary, not to do justice, to administer the processes that until yesterday were administered by the assembly, politics and now they are in their complete independence.
How can the first thing we did was rush to make a decision in the middle of summer and issue an order that is the origin of this conflict, these are the salaries and the State Treasury opens the door. Let's say they are right, but let's say, this is the way, the path, the example, this is what we, all together, the people of justice, the Albanian citizens, teach you? Is this how justice is sought? In a one-sided manner?
Without exhausting any of the other steps? Are we representatives or 3 states in conflict? What is Albania? What are these powers? What is happening here? How is it possible that the first normal step is not taken? A contact is required, a person sits at the table, people who live with the responsibility of a state", the prime minister says. /LAPSI.al
