A Pep Guardiola we haven't seen before is revealed in behind-the-scenes footage from the documentary "A Beautiful Obsession," which followed him during his final season at Manchester City. His passionate speeches in the locker room have captured the attention of fans, who have seen every side of the coach, even the most private ones, like the difficult divorce he faced. He also spoke about it with his players after the Champions League defeat at Juventus, but the Bianconeri are not the only team mentioned in his speeches.
Another part of the series shows a conversation he had with the whole team, where he suddenly turned to Reijnders, mentioning Milan, who in the previous season had not qualified for European cups. It was a warning to his entire group, who in the end did not win the Premier League (the title went to Arsenal after more than twenty years of waiting), but still secured a place in the Champions League in the last English season of the Spaniard Guardiola.

Guardiola's speech about Reijnders
The main point of the speech was City's motivation to win, to avoid a repeat of last season, when the team had finished third in the championship, behind Arsenal and Liverpool, who had won the championship, leaving Guardiola's players 13 points behind. Not repeating the mistakes of the past was essential: "The question for those who were here last year is: do you want to experience a season like that again? Do you want to repeat that season?" But then he turned to the new approach of Reijnders to give him an even more concrete example: "Are you going to play another season like the last one at that damn Milan, when you didn't qualify for the cups? Is that what you want? Are you going to experience all that again?".
The comparison did not sit well with Milan fans, who were cited as a negative example in a disappointing season that ended without qualifying for European cups, and which Guardiola used mainly as a warning to his players: in the end, he could not greet the Premier League with another triumph, as the championship ended in the hands of Arsenal after a very long chase, which had also been reopened in recent weeks.
