The lifeless body of a 31-year-old man was found in a well about 10 meters deep in the area of Felloniche, in the territory of the municipality of Longiano, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, Italy. The Forlì prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into murder, while one of the main leads is that of execution by firearm.
According to Italian media, the victim is suspected to be a 31-year-old Albanian, identified as Denaldo Maxhallakui, who had been missing for several weeks, but has yet to be officially confirmed.
The body was discovered on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, at around 10:00, in a well near a village house, along the provincial road 85, which connects Savignano sul Rubicone with the area of Felloniche.
According to a report by Italian media outlet Teleromagna, several pistol casings were also found near the well, which are being examined by investigators to determine if they are related to the incident.
Suspicions about the victim's identity have been heightened by the disappearance of a 31-year-old Albanian man who frequented the area where the body was found. About three weeks ago, his car was found completely burned out, a few kilometers away, along the Fondovalle del Rubicone road.
The discovery of the body was made after checks in the well, where it was suspected that there might be something inside. According to the preliminary reconstruction of the event by the Italian media, the throwing of a stone into the well and the lack of the usual noise of contact with water raised suspicions, prompting more detailed checks.
The Cesenatico carabinieri, a specialized unit with search dogs from Florence, firefighters and the coroner arrived at the scene. The body extraction operation was carried out by teams specialized in intervention in wells and difficult areas.
The investigation is being led by the Forlì Prosecutor's Office, in collaboration with the Carabinieri. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the victim, to determine the causes and circumstances of death, and to shed light on the possible connection between the disappearance of the Albanian, the burned-out car, and the body found in the well.
At this stage, the full circumstances of the incident remain unclear and investigations are ongoing.
