Gaz Bardhi: Rama asks us not to talk about Balluku, declares protesters guilty

The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's stances on the protests and demands of young people, accusing him of double standards in the treatment of protesting citizens and government officials.

In a public reaction, Bardhi states that, in his opinion, in the absence of answers to the demands of the youth, Rama chooses to smear and slander. The head of the DP parliamentary group questions the method of verifying the integrity of senior government officials, MPs, mayors and heads of institutions.

Bardhi mentions Belinda Balluku, Erion Veliaj, Mirlinda Kaçanaj, Vlora Hyseni and Ergys Agas in his reaction, claiming that the prime minister holds different positions towards government figures and citizens who come out to protest.

According to Bardhi, citizens cannot be considered guilty without evidence and a court decision, while the same standards of accountability and presumption of innocence should apply to public officials.

In conclusion, the Democratic MP accuses Rama of placing the preservation of power over integrity, responsibility and the interests of citizens, linking this stance to the current political situation in the country.

Six decisions signed by the AMA on October 30, for alleged violations of ethical standards and broadcasting statements that, according to the authority, incite hatred or justify violence. The fines have opened a debate on the limits of freedom of expression and the responsibility of television stations, while journalists see them as a form of pressure that risks encouraging self-censorship in studios and editorial offices.
