The challenge for the top spot between Lazio and Milan ends in a draw. The two teams share a half of play each, while at half-time the home team leads 2-0 thanks to goals from Cancellieri and Noslin. Amorim changes everything after the first half and his choices prove him right: Moreira adapts very well to the match and, with a brace, recovers the disadvantage. The team of the technician Gattuso climbs to the top of the standings with 10 points, while the Rossoneri remain at the quota of 8 points.
The match starts at a fast pace and the first save belongs to Mandas, who is able to stop a header by Chukwueze. After this alarm, the home team takes heart and immediately creates two chances – one with Zaccagni and one with Nosli – before taking the lead in the 10th minute with Cancellieri. Nuno Tavares serves Zaccagni, who breaks through the Milan defense with a low cross, while the player on the opposite wing beats Maignan, getting ahead of Estupiñán. If the Rossoneri find it difficult to become dangerous, the same cannot be said for the team coached by Gattuso, who in the 21st minute approaches the second goal with Zaccagni, served by Frattesi after an excellent team action: Maignan intervenes decisively on the way out and saves his team. Lazio continues to be dangerous and in the 39th minute doubles the advantage with Noslin: Nuno Tavares serves Taylor, who again has plenty of space to enter the area, and his cross reaches the Dutch striker, who first hits the crossbar and then, after a deflection of the ball, scores with his head from just a few centimeters away from the goal.
Amorim tries to give a signal and at half-time he substitutes three players, introducing Moreira, Musah and Pulisic. Milan increases in the game, while the home team retreats more into their own area, and manages to become dangerous several times in the first 15 minutes, first with Pavlovic and then with Pulisic: in both cases Mandas intercepts the shots. In the 65th minute, the Rossoneri narrow the gap: excellent action by Amorim's team, with Pulisic crossing into the area and Moreira entering the far post and with a beautiful flying left-footed shot beating Mandas. Only two minutes pass and it is again the Belgian, again with a flying left-footed shot – this time from outside the area – who finds the goal. With both teams clearly tired, the match goes towards the end with the score 2-2, without other important chances. Gattuso's team climbs to 10 points, at the top of the standings. The Rossoneri remain at 8 points.
GENOA 1-1 FROSINONE
The fourth week of Serie A brings a 1-1 draw between Genoa and Frosinone, with Kvernadze and Vasquez scoring at Ferraris, where initially it is Genoa that has a goal disallowed in the 7th minute: Baldanzi scores, but the referee disallows the goal of the red and blues for an earlier offside position by Osmajic. In the 14th minute it is Kvernadze who scores: Ghedjemis wins an aerial duel in midfield, Schmid prepares the assist and the Georgian scores for 1-0, after avoiding Marcandalli. In the 22nd minute, Colombo creates a great opportunity for Genoa to equalize, but Baldanzi makes a blatant mistake in front of goalkeeper Palmisani. However, the Italian returns to the spotlight in the 45th minute, when VAR calls the referee to the monitor to highlight a handball by Cittadini, after a shot by Baldanzi himself. Rapuano awards the penalty, but Colombo misses from the penalty spot, shooting the ball straight out. Genoa reacts in the 50th minute, when Vasquez scores for 1-1: after a corner kick from Sow, the Genoa captain fires a powerful volley with his right foot and restores the balance.
Ten minutes later, El Shaarawy made his debut at Marassi, having only played three away games in his first spell with the red and blue team. However, it was Vitinha who forced Palmisani to make a crucial save in the 81st minute, before Vasquez was sent off with a second yellow card. In the end, Bijlow also came into the spotlight with several crucial saves, thus maintaining the final score at 1-1. Frosinone thus climbed to 7 points in the standings, while Genoa secured their first point in this edition of Serie A.
