The protest in Tirana has escalated. The "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard has turned into a "war scene". Tear gas has been massively thrown at the protesters.
Over 10-15 police cars have formed a motorcade, but most of them are unidentified.
Also, civilians without any means of identification have been deployed en masse and are stopping protesters in Tirana.
The student protest continues uninterrupted in Tirana, where young people have gathered in front of the Police reception, demanding the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and calling for massive participation in the protest.
In a statement to News24, one of the protesters stated that young people have taken to the streets for their future and to oppose the Socialist Party's governance over the last 14 years.
"We protest for our future, for all the crimes committed over the past 14 years by the Socialist Party, for the many promises that Edi Rama has not kept. The police must all return with us. Edi Rama must go, he has closed the cycle. We call on all students from every part of Albania," the protester said.
The situation in the capital continues to be tense, while during the protest the police have massively used tear gas and pressurized water to disperse the crowd.
Meanwhile, numerous arrests of protesters were also reported during the evening hours.
Despite the intervention of law enforcement, young people continue to protest, insisting on their demands for political change and the resignation of the prime minister.
The protests of recent days have been accompanied by repeated clashes between demonstrators and police, while dissatisfaction with the government, alleged corruption and economic problems continue to be at the center of the civic revolt. /BW
