If there was a moment when the four-month-old slogan of the protest “Edi Rama got it, got it, got it”, it was this Thursday morning when the wave of student anger marked its third day. After being silent for 48 hours in a row, after issuing statuses to the women in the government and writing the text to the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Demo, the prime minister appeared in the burnt-out background of the College of Europe office.
Edi Rama, with a look of confusion like Ceausescu's, when he returned from Iran, proved that he has not understood anything of what is happening in the country he has led for 13 years. After staging a camera from behind to enter the destroyed premises, he released the first conspiratorial message that what has happened is not the work of the students.
"Today, this is the ruin of hands that are not and can never be the hands of students. Students are the future. Students are those who see far and who want to go further and faster," he initially said.
Just like with the behavior when the Flamingo revolution began, for which he first accused the Greeks, then the Iranians, then Trump's opponents in the US and Europe, the prime minister issued a second message: The protest was conceived by the opposition, namely the DP.
Despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of Albanians witnessed how students expelled Berisha MPs from their ranks, continuing to chant "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison", the head of the government in a miserable state demanded to leave the bill to the DP.
"These are the hands of an opposition that, with blindfolds in front, with fire and iron, seeks to return Albania to where Albania will never return, seeks to return Albania to the abyss from which we together pulled it out and from where we are climbing it towards the historical peak, towards the dream of all Albanians for generations, the European Union," he said.
And here is the third absurd message. Edi Rama, a man who has been leading the country for 13 years, who has held public office since 1998, a time when many of those protesting today were not yet born, accuses today's 15-20 year olds that they are the past while he is the future. Even a person in the greatest trouble finds it difficult to drag himself behind such arguments to save his own skin, because the result is simple: no one believes him.
"Albanians will never again be hostages of the past, and the past that returned with its blindness these hours in the center of Tirana, like a ghost trying to do what it has always done whenever Albanians have wanted to raise their heads, will remain the past. The future belongs to the students! The future belongs to Albania and Albanians!", said Rama.
So, it is clear that this delayed exit after more than 48 hours, when the country was in flames and smoke, showed that the prime minister no longer has a message, nor does he have any room for action, and moreover, how can he remain naked and hide a simple thing that all of Albania knows: that hatred is directed at him.
Therefore, aside from the "mis en scene" chosen by the director, with the burned-down Council of Europe building and the prime minister standing with his back turned to the damage, his reaction was sterile, desperate and not addressed to anyone. Having lost the image battle, Edi Rama's propaganda power has also been reduced to zero.
