The Administrative Court of First Instance of Lushnja has accepted the request for securing the lawsuit, deciding to suspend the works for the Jewish museum, at the monument near the former "Labëria" Patriotic Club in Vlora.
The news was announced by representatives of the initiative for the protection of the monument, who, through a public response, announced that the decision has immediate effect and will remain in force until the final resolution of the court case.
According to the representatives of the initiative, this is not a battle against anyone, but an attempt to protect cultural heritage and ensure respect for the law. They emphasize that the memory of the Jews of Vlora and the contribution of the Vlora families who sheltered and protected them during World War II are an important part of the city's history. However, according to them, the assessment of this history should not be done at the expense of other monuments.
Representatives of the initiative thanked the 1,034 citizens who signed the petition, as well as the people who went to court to oppose the interventions near the monument.
They indicate that the legal battle will continue, with the aim of guaranteeing transparency, legality and protection of the cultural heritage of the city of Vlora.
