Prime Minister Edi Rama has canceled his official visit to Vienna, scheduled for Monday, October 19, where he was expected to meet with the Federal Chancellor of Austria, Christian Stocker.
The news was announced through an official announcement published in Vienna, according to which the cancellation of the visit was requested by the Albanian side.
"The official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, to Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, October 19, 2026, has been canceled by the Albanian side," the Austrian government statement said.
The official statement does not give reasons for the cancellation of the visit.
The country has been engulfed for several days by student and youth protests against the government, accompanied by tensions and clashes with the police, while the only moments when Rama can be in the office are in the early hours of the morning.
