The Director of the State Police, Skënder Hita, spoke today at a press conference about the use of rubber bullets during the protests in Tirana, stating that these tools are allowed, but are used in a limited manner. According to him, the police only use certified equipment and tools designated for intervention in such situations.
"The permitted police vehicles and equipment have been used in a limited manner, as we use designated vehicles, as in all EU countries. The police only use certified equipment for this purpose," said Hita.
He also touched on incidents during the protests, emphasizing that a small group does not represent all participants. According to the director of the State Police, officers were hit with screws and nuts, while some of them were injured. One police officer, he said, suffered multiple fractures in his mouth and jaw.
