A day before the assassination attempt that injured Thimjo Rubati, his son with a criminal record, Andrea Rubati, was involved in another incident. The 27-year-old is wanted for violence against a police officer, along with two of his friends.
Andrea Rubati, 27, Antonio Lefteri, 30, and Engjëll Dalanaj, 30, are suspected of stabbing and threatening Police Officer Mihal Velço on Thursday evening in neighborhood no. 4 of Saranda.
Investigations reveal that Mihal Velço, an officer at the Saranda Police Station, introduced himself as a police officer and asked the three young men not to perform dangerous motorcycle maneuvers in the city. It is suspected that they insulted him, hit him because of his duty, and threatened him with a knife.
After the incident, the three suspects, who also have previous criminal records, fled the scene on a motorbike. Police say they were identified by security cameras in the area, as the officer did not recognize them.
Rubati, Lefteri and Dalanaj have been declared wanted and are accused of the criminal offenses of "Assault in the line of duty" and "Threat". The police have conducted searches in apartments and other premises, but have not yet found their tracks.
