Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, in a letter addressed to the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has asked Brussels to publicly condemn the fascist statement made by Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunovic.
Regarding the minister's statement that if she were in Milosevic's place, she would carry out ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, Konjufca asked the EU to raise this issue in discussions about Serbia's EU membership process.
Konjufca presented three demands that Kosovo has from the EU
1. Issue a clear, strong and public condemnation of Minister Paunović's statement and the revisionist rhetoric it represents.
2. Officially remind the Serbian authorities that such statements are unacceptable and not in line with European values and the requirements of the EU accession process.
3. Raise this issue appropriately in the framework of the EU-Serbia political dialogue and the accession process, so that Belgrade understands the seriousness with which the European Union treats such incidents.
"Such a statement by a serving minister cannot be treated as a gaffe. The entire interview was filled with deeply revisionist and hostile content, reflecting a broader pattern of statements that continue to undermine the EU-facilitated dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as erode trust in this process," Konjufca wrote in his letter.
