
An Egyptian citizen has been arrested by Tirana Police, suspected of organizing a scheme to traffic illegal immigrants to European Union countries.
According to investigations, he transported foreign citizens, mainly from Egypt, for a fee, trying to avoid police checks and moving them one by one towards the north of the country, with the aim of illegally crossing the border.
"Tirana/ The Trafficking Investigation Section is finalizing the police operation codenamed "The Organizer". An Egyptian citizen, resident of Kruja, is arrested, who is suspected of organizing in our country the transportation of immigrants (mainly Egyptians) who intended to illegally cross the borders with a destination of one of the EU countries.
To avoid police checks, this citizen transported foreign citizens, mainly Egyptians, one by one.
The 34-year-old Egyptian was arrested red-handed, on the highway, near Rinas, while transporting an Egyptian citizen towards Shkodra.
The arrested person's cell phone is seized.
As a result of the rapid administration of information obtained operationally, about a citizen involved in organizing the transportation, for payment, of immigrants intending to cross the borders in violation of the law, to EU countries, specialists of the Trafficking Investigation Section finalized the operation codenamed "Organizer".
The intervention of the Police services enabled the arrest in flagrante delicto, on the highway, near Rinas, of the suspected perpetrator, Egyptian citizen AH, 34 years old, resident of Kruja, while he was transporting an Egyptian citizen towards Shkodra.
"From the investigations so far, it is suspected that the 34-year-old was the organizer of providing assistance to foreign citizens, mainly from Egypt, for illegal border crossing. Work is underway to fully document the criminal activity of this citizen. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police wrote.
