VIEWS OUT / Houthis attack Riyadh airport in Saudi Arabia again

Al Jazeera and other media outlets are reporting another ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initial reports suggest the missile hit Terminal 4, causing a fire. Emergency crews were called to put it out.

The new attack came a day after a deadly strike by Houthi rebels killed 12 people and wounded more than 300. The previous day, Terminal 3 was hit.

Shortly after the first reports, the Saudi-led military coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government reported a new attack on Riyadh's international airport.

Coalition spokesman General Turki al-Maliki said in a statement that "an attack by an unknown missile was carried out against passenger terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport and caused a fire."

Earlier, air defenses intercepted and destroyed a rocket in the area of King Khalid International Airport, the coalition spokesman also said in another statement.

Saudi Arabia's Civil Aviation Authority said today's attack on the airport caused injuries, without specifying the number. "Assessment of the damage and verification of the security conditions of the facilities are ongoing," it added.

For its part, the Houthi military spokesman officially announced that the organization claimed responsibility for yesterday's attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed 12 people.

Yemen's Houthis are now directly threatening Saudi Arabia's aviation infrastructure, urging airlines, workers, and travelers to avoid the country's airports and airspace.

The victims of the attack the day before were 4 Saudis, 2 from Bangladesh and 1 citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sudan and Palestine. This was one of the deadliest attacks in Saudi Arabia in a decade. ©LAPSI.al
