Catholic Church appeals to the government and the Municipality of Shkodra:

The Catholic Church in Shkodra has reacted to the tense situation in the country, calling on the government and the Municipality of Shkodra to reflect and take on their responsibilities.
In its message, the Church emphasizes that it does not intend to replace civil institutions, but that religious communities cannot remain indifferent in the face of a social crisis. According to the statement, the protests of recent days show a deep dissatisfaction that should not be ignored. The Church condemns the violence, but at the same time asks the authorities to listen to citizens, open dialogue and address the causes of dissatisfaction.

"The responsibility of the authorities is not measured by statements, but by concrete decisions," the message states, demanding that the public interest be placed above any private interest.

The Church warns that when trust in institutions is shaken and social peace is put at risk, governments must take responsibility and, if necessary, make difficult decisions.
A special appeal is also addressed to the Municipality of Shkodra. The statement emphasizes that the city is a common good and cannot be considered the property of institutions, rulers or those who own wealth. The Church calls for more attention to families in difficulty, young people who see their future abroad, the elderly, people with disabilities and the most vulnerable groups. The message concludes with a call for institutions to listen more to citizens and guarantee justice, equal opportunities, education, health and social services without corruption or favoritism.
