Details/ Difficult situation due to fires in Puka and Mirdita, homes at risk

The Ministry of Defense informs that as of 9:00 PM this Friday, 26 fires have been registered, of which 8 remain active, 4 under surveillance and 1 under control. 

In Gojan-Gjegjan, Puka, intensive work continues to extinguish and isolate the fires in difficult terrain. 6 firefighting vehicles with 29 MZSH personnel, 10 Forest Service employees, 50 municipal forces, 50 volunteers and 40 AF personnel have been deployed, supported by 1 firefighting vehicle and 2 AF helicopters. The forces and vehicles have been positioned at points of risk for immediate intervention. Thanks to the intervention, 2 inhabited apartments have been saved, while measures have also been taken to evacuate some residents.

In Shtane, Mirditë, efforts to protect the residential area continue with 40 municipal forces, supported by 30 members of the Armed Forces, 2 fire engines and 2 helicopters. The State Police has evacuated the endangered residents, while an ambulance has also been deployed to the area.

In Dukat, Vlora, the commitment has been significantly reinforced. 2 firefighting vehicles with 9 personnel, 8 forestry employees, 12 forces of the Orikum Administrative Unit and 100 personnel of the Armed Forces are operating on the ground, while the operation is supported from the air by 2 Air Tractor aircraft.

Despite the fire's spread towards the mountain, no homes are at risk.

In Dajt, Tirana, work continues to isolate the remaining hot spots with 30 AF personnel, 13 MZSH personnel, 9 AZM forces and 1 AF helicopter. Some of the hot spots have been completely isolated and there is no risk to residential areas.

In Bërshi, Klos, 5 firefighters, 10 municipal forces and 30 AF personnel have been deployed. There is no reported danger to homes in this area either.

Meanwhile, the interventions so far have brought improvement in several areas: Farka is under control, while Mal Miloti, Lufaj, Kalivaç and Mal i Çika are kept under surveillance. In Mal Milot, the fire was extinguished after the intervention of local structures and the Armed Forces.

To cope with the situation, the coordinated engagement of local and central structures continues, supported by 270 Armed Forces personnel, 5 firefighting vehicles, 4 helicopters and 2 Air Tractor aircraft.

The National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) continues to continuously monitor the situation and coordinate with prefectures, municipalities and all structures of the Civil Protection system. Operational capacities remain engaged and on standby, with the priority of protecting the lives, homes and property of citizens.
