The mayor of Mirdita, Alber Melyshi, said that the fire situation in this municipality is truly serious and dangerous.
He said that the village of Tenë is currently the most affected, where the first evacuations have taken place. According to Melyshi, these fires are believed to be intentional, while adding that he has asked the authorities to investigate as soon as possible and bring the perpetrators to justice.
"Today is one of the most dangerous situations we could have had in the Mirditë municipality because it was favored by the wind. We had many families who were in scattered forest areas and it was difficult to intervene, but fortunately so far we have not had any damage to homes or people's lives. We have evacuated residents in two neighborhoods. The situation continues to be really difficult, but with the help of additional firefighting equipment that has arrived, I hope that the situation will continue to normalize. It seems that in some cases they are intentional arsons, because within the year we have intervened several times and extinguished them, it seems that there is a hand that will burn the forests, and I have discussed it with the authorities so that they can take measures," he said.
