Sokrat Vata and 10 other people arrested after the murder of 20-year-old Luis Miguel Varela Mendes in Ksamil will appear before the Saranda Court this Friday. Security measures are expected to be set against them today. The young man, with Portuguese citizenship and residence in France, was stabbed to death in the early hours of August 18, just two days after arriving in Albania.
According to the investigation, the conflict began after a party at the "Principote" club. After leaving the bar, there was a heated argument between several tourists. The complex's employees later intervened in the conflict. The police announced that the main accomplice in the murder of the Portuguese tourist is citizen David Heurtevent, a resident of Tirana, who, according to the 'Blues', punched the 20-year-old, at the moment Vata stabbed him. Mendes lost his life on a deck chair near the club.
Vata was later arrested in Levan. He was found hiding in the trunk of a Turkish couple's car, who were suspected of helping him flee to Tirana. Heurtevent remains wanted. Four waiters and four bodyguards from the complex were also arrested. Among the bodyguards are a police officer, a prison employee and a municipal police officer. According to the investigation, they did not intervene to prevent the incident and did not notify the police. The owner of "Principote", who was suspected of being present at the time of the incident, but left without reporting it, is also wanted.
