As announced, a national protest against the government is taking place in Tirana today. For the 63rd day in a row, citizens have gathered in Skanderbeg Square and have begun a march towards the Prime Minister's Office, reiterating that they will not retreat until Prime Minister Edi Rama resigns.
With national flags, banners and anti-government slogans, protesters marched to the "Deshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, where speeches by activists and citizens are being held. The resignation of the prime minister remains the main demand of the protesters. They are demanding the creation of a technical government, constitutional changes and the holding of free and fair elections.
Started as a reaction to the tourism project in Zvërnec, the protest has grown into a broader movement against the government. For more than two months, citizens have been raising concerns about corruption, misgovernance, the rising cost of living, immigration, healthcare, and the lack of transparency in state institutions.
