Fire under control in Drenova, Mallakastra, 6 vehicles and over 50 personnel

The fire that engulfed the village of Drenova in Mallakastra has been brought under control after the intervention of firefighting forces. Six fire engines and over 50 firefighters from Mallakastra, Patos, Roskovec and Fier were deployed in the operation.

Favored by strong winds, the flames spread rapidly and approached cemeteries and homes. Immediate intervention prevented the fire from spreading to residential areas. The fire burned about seven hectares of olive groves, shrubs and forest areas. Firefighters continue to monitor the area to prevent the fires from rekindling.
