VV leader Albin Kurti, through a letter addressed to the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, has offered the latter that PDK should have the position of speaker of parliament.
Through his letter, Kurti addresses Hamza, saying that the election of the president should be done by everyone together, as required by the constitution.
Letter:
Honorable Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Mr. Bedri Hamza
Thank you for your response today. I must admit that I do not understand why we should not meet and discuss many things openly for the sake of the institutions of the Republic and the interests of the citizens. Our communication should be political and collegial from close quarters and not just official and through letters from afar. However, I am responding to the position you expressed in today's letter.
I respect your position to remain in the opposition. However, we must all do the constitution of the Assembly and the election of the new President together, as required by the constitutionality to which we swore as new deputies yesterday. You conclude your letter by saying that “PDK will make its contribution to the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo”. Your contribution at this point is only the proposal of the name for the vice-president from your party, who will be elected only after we vote for him/her. You can make a real contribution precisely in the election of the President, which would avoid us having to go through another unnecessary and unreasonable election, which is in any case harmful to both the state budget and the country’s economy.
Since you refuse to meet, let me repeat our offer once again. For your presence in the hall and for your participation in the vote for the new President of the Republic, we are ready to rotate your Deputy Speaker of the Assembly with our Speaker of the Assembly. This would be a beneficial contribution from you to the PDK: the leadership of one of the three highest political positions in the Republic of Kosovo.
