The fire in Mallakastër has gotten out of control, burning large areas of pine trees. Strong winds are fanning the flames, which have crossed the Panahori road.
Although firefighters, residents, and military forces are struggling to extinguish the flames, they are still unable to bring it under control.
The operation is taking place in difficult terrain, where wind and dense vegetation are favoring the advance of the flames. Air vehicles have also been deployed to assist forces on the ground, while the battle to extinguish the fire has been ongoing for two days.
According to the National Civil Protection Agency, a total of 14 fires have been reported over the last 10 hours, of which 7 still remain active.
29 firefighting vehicles, 246 operational forces, 90 Armed Forces personnel, a helicopter and an Air Force "Air Tractor" aircraft have been engaged in the operations to isolate and extinguish them. ©LAPSI.al
