The National Civil Protection Agency warns of a scorching weekend in Albania and a high risk of fires.

The Institute of Geosciences has notified the National Civil Protection Agency of the significant increase in temperatures and the increasing risk of forest fires during the period July 29 - August 2, 2026.

 
The increase in temperatures significantly increases the risk of forest fires, which will peak on Sunday.
​According to the National Civil Protection Agency, the regions with the highest risk are Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlora and Gjirokastra, where the thermometer will record extreme values.

For all other regions of the country, a "MODELAR" risk level is predicted for Sunday.

According to the report of the Institute of Geosciences, minimum and maximum temperatures will increase until Saturday (August 1), when the maximum value of 39.5°C will be reached: In low-lying areas, temperatures will peak at 39.5°C (especially in the Peqin municipality). Coastal areas are expected to see temperatures rise to 38.9°C. While in hilly areas, temperatures will reach 38.3°C, while in mountainous areas up to 33.3°C.

The Institute of Geosciences announces that the decrease in temperatures will begin on August 3rd.
