Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired his deputy chief of staff, Iryna Mudra, on Wednesday as Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU, similar to SPAK in Albania) searches premises linked to her. A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation told the Kyiv Independent that NABU officers are searching Mudra’s home.
NABU announced a few hours ago that it is conducting a “special operation to uncover a criminal organization, allegedly led by a current and a former Ukrainian MP, and involving high-ranking officials of the Presidential Administration.” A source told the Kyiv Independent that Mudra is also at the center of the investigation.
Later in the day, Ukraine's anti-corruption agency provided more information about the case, saying the suspects are accused of laundering 150 million hryvnia, or about $3.4 million. According to NABU, the money was paid as bail for a suspect in a separate corruption case.
Among the individuals suspected of being involved in this case are the former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, a current and a former MP, as well as the executive director and chairman of the supervisory board of the state-owned bank "Sense Bank".
