The Ministry of Defense has published the latest update on the fire situation in the country, while emergency structures continue operations to isolate and extinguish active fires.
According to the latest announcement, at least 227 operational forces and 16 firefighting and support vehicles have been deployed on the ground. Meanwhile, four air missions have also been carried out, with three helicopters and one Air Tractor aircraft.
In the Tirana district, in the Dajti area, several fires have re-emerged during the afternoon. The structures on the ground are continuing their intervention and monitoring, while according to the authorities there is no danger to residential areas.
In Cikallesh, Kavaja, the intensity of the fire has decreased significantly and the hearth is moving towards complete extinction after the intervention of the MZSH and the air support of the Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, in Priska e Madhe, work continues to bring several small outbreaks under control.
In the Fier district, in the Panahor–Ndrenie–Vlosht area, in Mallakastër, the fire is currently under control and does not pose a risk to residential areas.
The outbreak in the Koilac-Greshicë area is also under control and, according to the Ministry of Defense, does not pose a risk to homes.
In Abazë i Kruja, the situation has stabilized and only a few small outbreaks remain on the ground, mainly in areas with difficulties for intervention.
The Civil Emergency structures, the Municipality of Kruja, the Ministry of Environment, the Forest Service and the Durrës District Prefecture are engaged in the operation. In this area too, the authorities declare that there is no danger to inhabited areas.
A more problematic situation has been reported in Vilëz i Kurbinit, where the fire was reactivated in a forest area.
Due to the difficult terrain and wind, the flames threatened the church, the cemetery and several homes in the area. Around 50 forces from the Ministry of Environment, Civil Emergencies, Police, local structures, the forest service and volunteers have been engaged to deal with the situation.
Aerial intervention with two helicopters has managed to stop the fire from spreading and avoid affecting the church, cemetery, and surrounding homes.
However, the outbreaks continue to be active and teams on the ground are working to keep the situation under control.
The Ministry of Defense announces that the structures of the Civil Protection system are continuing uninterrupted operations on the ground and from the air to isolate, control and completely extinguish all active outbreaks.
