Pano Soko speaks at protest: PPP is robbing us of our future

Economist and activist Pano Soko spoke at the 81st protest held in front of the prime minister's office. He made strong accusations against the government's economic model, denouncing long-term concessions and the failure of the promise of free healthcare.

Soko strongly criticized the use of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), emphasizing that 35-year contracts are burdening future generations with the bills of today's affairs. He raised the question of what fault do future citizens have in paying for agreements concluded today by officials who operate on the principle of stealing as much as possible during a 4-year mandate.

He also discussed the figures for the healthcare system, highlighting that although 700 million euros are collected annually from Albanian taxes for the Ministry of Health, citizens are forced to spend another 1.5 billion euros from their own pockets.

According to Sokos, Albanians today pay taxes and twice as much money abroad for healthcare, which shows that the promise of free healthcare has completely failed. He added that the main danger for the country is not only Edi Rama as an individual, but his very model of governance, which he described as "Ramism".

He also criticized the socialist government for following the "KÇK" (grab whatever you can grab) model during its leadership of the country for more than 3 terms. /LAPSI.al

Instead of taking care of buildings that threaten citizens aesthetically and physically, the Prime Minister and his Municipality in Durrës order millions of euros to be spent on building concrete walls that hide the sea and disfigure the city.
