Algorithm Concerns/Accounts That Promoted Flamingo Protest Disappear on Social Media

The closure of the accounts of some of the most active voices of the flamingo protest raises suspicions of a coordinated wave of reporting and a new form of censorship on social networks, precisely on the ground where the protest had broken the dominance of government propaganda and which Edi Rama has been identifying as a problem for months, blaming the "algorithm".

Oil goes to 206 lek per liter

Oil has been trading at 206 lek per liter in our country in recent days.

A price as in the period of crisis caused by tensions in the Middle East.

After the abolition of the Transparency Board on June 19, the price of oil reached 176 lek per liter. But the intensification of tensions between the US and Iran has shaken global markets again, causing oil to rise further. This has also been translated in Albania in recent days, as oil reached 196 lek on July 20 and 206 lek this Wednesday.

This price increase is also reflected in the Platts Mediterranean exchange, to which Albania is also referred. On July 14, oil was imported for $1,206 per ton, while on July 21 it was cleared for $1,274 per ton. On the exchange, Brent oil is also trading for $94 per barrel, increasing even more.

In such a situation, the Intercity Transport Association for Top Channel states that a request will be addressed to institutions for fuel subsidies for these prices. While during the crisis period, the government subsidized urban and intercity transport companies with 50 lek per liter. It remains to be seen how it will act if fuel prices increase further.

This situation of rising prices continues in the region. Serbia has reinstated support measures, first imposing fuel price caps after prices rose to 1.87 euros per liter. Montenegro has temporarily lowered fuel excise duties. Oil is now trading at 1.65 euros per liter, down from the 1.81 euros per liter it was expected to reach.

Albania continues to have the highest oil price in the region, which according to operators is related to the high fiscal burden, where half of the price is tax. In Albania, the element that adds the most to the fiscal burden is the circulation tax of 27 lek per liter./ TCH
