Arben Visoqi, a Kosovo Police officer and brother-in-law of former President Hashim Thaçi, has announced that he has left office after 26 years of service.
According to him, the decision was made at the end of a disciplinary procedure, where his private posts on Facebook were considered a serious disciplinary violation.
In a reaction published on social media, Visoqi claims that the procedure against him was initiated after an anonymous complaint from Vetëvendosje and that the dismissal is related to whistleblower reports that, according to him, he had made against several Kosovo Police officials.
"In this case, the General Director of the Kosovo Police, instead of implementing the law for investigating whistleblower reports and protecting whistleblowers, incapable of dealing with sensitive issues and systematic and massive abuses by these bodies, finds the easiest way: contradiction, cowardice and surrender to crime.
In disloyalty, but also driven by politics, in this case Vetvendosje, which had gone so far as to falsify elements on Facebook that would later be taken as evidence in the disciplinary procedure against me, chooses to deal with the whistleblower, a crime-fighting employee, and these (suspected) criminals within the Police.
"So, a curious person would ask why Vetvendosje? Because, sources from Vetvendosje have spoken to me and warned me about the plan that was being prepared by their office against me and my family," he writes.
Visoqi also claims that falsified elements from Facebook were used in the disciplinary procedure and warns that he will pursue the case in court.
"Now I have to defend my right in Court and in other instances, convinced of my legal right, but... also moral. Otherwise, I have done nothing wrong (neither legal nor moral). Therefore, I am proud of my work. I will hold my head high now, and always! I am proud of my Visoqi family! I am the brother of the legendary martyr Bujar Visoqi! Proud to have fought for this country! Proud of the history of the family! Privilege to be the son-in-law of Hashim Thaqi, the uncle of my 3 sons! !", he writes. /LAPSI.al
