A pact has been drawn up between the prime minister and the imprisoned mayor to return the latter to office. But what would be the consequence for a justice reform, that the high-ranking officials have kicked down the doors of his cells?

A decisive moment for Albania

It is the first time that Albanians feel they can shape the national debate without waiting for political parties to take the lead. Experience teaches us that democracy depends not only on elections, but also on active citizenship among them.

Crisis in Kosovo/ Kurti invites opposition leaders to a meeting again

The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has sent new invitations to hold a meeting with the leaders of the three main political entities in Kosovo, represented in the Assembly, Bedri Hamza of the Democratic Party, Lumir Abdixhiku of the Democratic League and Ardian Gjini of the Alliance.

Koha.net writes that its sources have said that Kurti has not set a date for the meeting, but has left the time open, whenever the leaders of other parties are ready.

PDK MP Blerta Deliu briefly responded that "it's a closed issue" when asked if Hamza would respond positively to Kurti's invitation.

After the certification of the election results, Hamza responded positively to Kurti's invitation, but after the meeting he declared that PDK will remain in opposition and that Vetëvendosje has other entities at its disposal to reach a possible agreement on the institutions.

Meanwhile, Gjini is the only party leader who has rejected all invitations. He has publicly stated that the Alliance's MPs will participate in the constitution of the Assembly, the voting for the Government and the election of the President, if the new government implements 5 demands of this party, which include projects related to energy, to the allocation of about 1 billion euros for the capital.

Meanwhile, Abdixhiku has held 4 meetings with Kurti, including one after the adjournment of the constitutive session. In the last meeting, the two spoke about differences regarding the election of the president. Kurti insists that the head of state should be a party member, while Abdixhiku has said that this position should belong to the LDK.

The deputies of the 11th legislature took the oath in the constitutive session that began on Thursday, but the session was interrupted at the point of electing the speaker of parliament. Kurti requested that the proceedings of the session be stopped, with the aim of holding discussions with representatives of other parties that are part of the Assembly, with the aim of finding a solution for the president.

Two days later, the session was called to continue, but Kurti repeated the same argument and refused to give a proposal for the speaker of parliament. Opposition parties say that the speaker of parliament should be elected and then negotiations for the president should continue. ©LAPSI.al
